VP Academic Life
My name is Jesus Quaye Saya. I was originally born in Spain, but moved to Ireland when I was around 5 years old. I’ve spent pretty much all my childhood and teenage years in Co. Clare, Ennis, before I moved to Sligo. Growing up, I considered myself very creative. I was fascinated by technology and loved experimenting with different apps. Eventually, I fell in love with social media and explored almost every platform available. I retained my creative side but also developed a strong interest in business, and was particularly intrigued by psychology. I was captivated by the ability to connect with friends and people from around the world, as well as interact with businesses and influencers, which led me to choose Marketing as a degree to study at ATU Sligo.
Sligo and the university itself, I believe, have so much to offer! Sligo feels like such a close-knit community where everyone supports each other. My course also allowed me to be creative, and it was also very practical, which allowed us to work with businesses in Sligo. I am part of the ATU Sligo Volleyball Club, and volleyball has been a significant part of my life for nearly 10 years. I’m proud to say that I became Chairperson of the club in my second year of college and remained so until my final year. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring people closer to volleyball, which is growing in popularity in Ireland. I was also a Class Rep and Student Ambassador during my time in university for the full duration of my course, which allowed me to help my classmates with different issues they may have had, but also allowed me to participate in different events and meet new people.
I’m now working in the position of Academic Life Officer here at ATU Sligo Students’ Union, and I’m looking forward to making a change in the lives of students, specifically academically.
